Discover the secrets to mastering castle upkeep in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s latest update! "A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping" is the fourth Realm Quest introduced in the Return to Beast’s Castle update, following the captivating adventures of "The Haunting of the Beast’s Castle," "A Growing Mystery," and "Belle, Book, and Candle." After receiving a mysterious invitation accompanied by a masquerade mask, it’s time to prepare for a grand celebration! Even though Lumiere and Cogsworth take charge of most of the work, there’s still plenty you can contribute to make the event a success.
Getting Started: Fine Cutlery
Your first mission begins after chatting with Cogsworth about the party logistics: locate the Fine Cutlery stored in the garden cellar. To find it, proceed down the main hall, turn left along the corridor, and step outside to the garden. From the garden entrance steps, look down the lane on the left to spot the double doors with silver handles. Open these doors and transfer the Fine Cutlery to your inventory—it’s your essential table setting kit.
Setting the Scene: Arrange the Table
Return to the grand hall where Cogsworth awaits. Find the prominent U-shaped table beside the grand piano and interact with it. Move the Fine Cutlery from your inventory into the table storage to elegantly set the place. This action decorates the table with tiered plates, albeit empty for now. Next, turn to Lumiere and learn about the exquisite gastronomy planned for the night.
Gathering Ingredients: Charcuterie Board Hunt
Lumiere reveals that a Charcuterie Board will be the highlight dish. Your task: track down the unique ingredients scattered around the castle before assembling this gourmet platter.
Oyster and Creepy Crawly Crab: Head to the storage room adjacent to the castle library. From the main hall staircase, make your way through Beast’s private chamber (West Wing) to reach a wooden crate by two barrels at the back. Inside, you’ll find both the eerie OooooOOOooyster and the quirky Creepy Crawly Crab. Claim them both to your inventory.
Chilling Cucumber: Inside the library, turn left at the entrance and locate the cucumber on the right side of a table tucked in the room’s top-left corner.
Booyere Cheese: Also in the library, spot this cheese on the table beside the central globe.
Screamed Butter: Finally, the last ingredient rests on a small table in front of the fireplace within the library.
Cooking & Placement
With all ingredients collected, use the cooking station located in the same storage room beside the castle library (where you previously crafted Fireplace Fuel) to prepare the Charcuterie Board. After making this spooky delight, return to the grand piano hall and place the dish on the table, instantly filling each plate with the enticing meal. But the party's not ready yet—meet with Cogsworth to find out the next steps.
Decorating the Garden for the Gala
Cogsworth believes that multicolored Rose Garlands would add the perfect festive touch. Go back to the garden, but this time hunt for three kinds of crafting materials:
Castle Softwood: Collect eight pieces, which you might have partially obtained before by clearing Night Thorns or smashing statues during previous quests. If you missed some, the garden still has some left.
Rainbow Rose Bouquet: Ideally, you should already have three bouquets from an earlier quest "A Growing Mystery." Check your inventory or housing storage to confirm.
Castle Detritus: Find this by interacting with a brown storage bag near a pillar behind the crafting station. Gather three pieces of this ‘miscellaneous repair remains’ to complete your haul.
Crafting and Adorning
At the crafting station by the garden, combine these materials to create Rose Garlands, found under Functional Items. Then, return to the grand hall and decorate the arches near Cogsworth’s post by placing the garlands around the windows. This cosmetic upgrade adorns the arches with vibrant roses, much to Cogsworth’s delight.
Time to Celebrate: Masquerade Fun
Now it’s time to have fun! Equip the Masquerade Mask via the Wardrobe Menu, then capture a memorable photo with Lumiere and Cogsworth in front of your floral decorations. Enjoy their lighthearted banter before continuing your quest.
Bringing Lumiere and Cogsworth to Dreamlight Valley
After the festivities, Lumiere is eager to reunite with Belle and the Beast. Exit the Beast’s Realm with him to welcome Lumiere officially as a new Valley Villager. Incidentally, he’ll also gift you a Birthday Party Invitation.
Next, visit the Beast’s home and inform him of Lumiere’s arrival. However, the Beast wonders where Cogsworth is—since the latter is hesitating to leave his duties. The answer: a letter from the Beast urging Cogsworth to come to the Valley is just the persuasion needed.
Deliver this letter in the Beauty and the Beast Realm to Cogsworth. Upon reading it, he agrees to join the Valley straight away. Bring Cogsworth back with you, adding another friend to your Valley community. Finally, drop by the Beast’s house one more time and speak with Cogsworth to complete this heartwarming reunion.
